Looking for ways to help?
Here are examples of possible activities that could be planned and conducted to support families of deployed military personnel:

  • Image of FamilyHave local school children, veterans groups, church groups, etc. write letters of support to troops.
  • Have honor rolls and pictures of deployed troops posted in their home churches.
  • Identify or gather lists of businesses that offer discounts to military families.
  • Use Thrivent Financial programs, materials and expert members to help dependent families deal with their unique issues.
  • Sponsor picnics, fun days, swim days, tours and outings for dependent families.
  • Get involved with and/or organize welcome home events.
  • Get youth groups to do Spring and Fall yard work for service "widows".
  • Set up video camera and tape messages that can be mailed to deployed units.
  • Set up a Web Site on www.lutheransonline.com for families to post pictures
