What’s Your Perspective?

Bruce Nicholson, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer

It’s one of life’s ironies—no matter how well you think through all your options and decide what you want to do, things don’t always turn out as planned.

Sometimes the detours you take are really blessings in disguise that force you to step back and look at things in a different way. In the process, you also might meet important people whom you otherwise would have missed, or you may gain a greater understanding of the world around you.

Other times, the hurdles you face really derail you from the path you’d planned to be on. Maybe an unexpected health crisis forces you to travel across the country to be with a family member. Or, a sudden job loss wreaks havoc on your finances. Even less obvious things like the tension and stress from a challenging family relationship can seep into other areas of your life.

We’ve all been there, and we’ve all had to figure out what to do. I’ve often found that getting past the hurdles means looking for people or information that can help—someone who can help me identify the problem or something that presents a solution or at least gets me thinking about things in a different way.

This magazine can be one of those tools. Each issue is filled with information and perspectives from both expert resources and our members who, in many cases, have faced challenges and come out on top. These insights can help you handle whatever life throws your way. Whether you want to break a bad financial habit, find more ways to protect the environment, or get on a path to healthier living, you’ll find information in this magazine you can use right now.

Sometimes it just comes down to taking the first step and finding the promise in even the simplest of successes. Look for your blessings in disguise. You just might be surprised.

Sincerely,

Bruce J. Nicholson
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
